The honors may only be three years old, but the annual Crew Awards by ACREW are cherished by the dozens of captains, engineers, first officers, chief stews, and other professionals who make the yachting experience so enjoyable for owners and guests. Since they work hard to make that experience so special, you have the chance to return the favor. Nominate your capable crewmembers for a host of worthy nominations.
The awards cover 20 different categories, just as they’ve done for the past two years. In addition, the Crew Awards from ACREW don’t limit recognition to just one company’s fleet, or to just individuals. The nominations recognize achievements from any and every charter fleet, for example. Furthermore, they recognize professionals working aboard private yachts, too. These are some of the reasons why ACREW says its program is the only crew-awards ceremony that can remain impartial.
The categories stand apart as well. For instance, the Crew Awards by ACREW include the Duty of Care honor. For this, you can nominate either an individual or a full team. The idea is to recognize those who have gone well above and beyond their duties to keep guests and/or fellow crewmembers safe. You should give a concrete example of a scenario where they were under pressure yet remained professional, adhering to safety standards.
Of course, not every award focuses on dire situations. In fact, one category is the Entrepreneur Award. This is for a current or former yachtie who, within the past five years, has created his or her own business. “ACREW encourages crew taking the brave step into entrepreneurialism,” the nomination reads. “Innovative entrepreneurs with the ‘insights of a yachtie’ will rejuvenate our niche industry.”
Additional awards cover humanitarianism, environmental mindedness, and lifetime achievements.
For the full list of categories, visit the ACREW website. Submit your nominations by May 11. The finalists announcement should come in July, with the awards ceremony following in October in France.
