We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, because it bears repeating. Crew makes or breaks the megayacht ownership experience. A good crew makes everything onboard flow seemingly effortlessly. Similarly, the yacht stays in Bristol condition. If the capable hands aboard your yacht are tops in your mind, they’re eligible for the annual ACREW Crew Awards held by ACREW, which hosts professional-development events for crewmembers worldwide.
A few prize-giving events turn the spotlight on captains and crew each year. However, ACREW asserts that its program is the only one that is not just impartial, but also focused on both individuals as well as teams, in broad ways. In fact, you’ll 20 different categories, including Captain (Master Unlimited) Crew Award, Chef Crew Award, Best Charter Yacht Crew Award, and Engineer & ETO Crew Award. Furthermore, some of the categories go above and beyond the expected.
For instance, one such category is Humanitarian Crew Award. This honors an individual or even an entire yacht helping coastal communities in need. Those needs could be something simple, like a clothing donation. Alternately, they could be dire, like water, or recovery from natural disasters.
Yet another ACREW Crew Award recognizes a captain or crewmember via the Environmental Crew Award. For instance, he or she might implement using eco-friendly cleaning products on the megayacht, or regularly clean trash from the ocean. Ultimately, the best candidate is someone who inspires others to be cognizant of their footprint on the world.
Furthermore, you’ll find the Team Player Crew Award. Candidates don’t just go beyond the call of duty. They earn the respect of their fellow crewmembers, and create a healthy onboard environment. Finally, consider the Creativity Crew Award. Whether it’s photography, music, or another endeavor, this ACREW Crew Award strives to recognize someone whose artistic talent and passion makes yachting a truly unforgettable experience.
ACREW anticipates 500 captains and crew will attend the official prize-giving ceremony on October 12 in Nice, France.
