Celebration was in the air today at The Italian Sea Group shipyard in Marina di Carrara, Italy. The 157-foot (48-meter) Crocus, belonging to the Admiral brand, slipped into the water for the first time.
The RINA-classed megayacht springs from the Admiral Atos concept, an in-house design which prioritizes big spaces for owners and guests to enjoy, simultaneously keeping volume beneath 500 gross tons. Crocus’ volume comes in at about 485 gross tons. Simultaneously, she provides accommodations for 12 people amid a 29-foot (8.8-meter) beam.
From the exterior styling to her interior design, the owner wanted tranquil appeal. That said, however, tranquil doesn’t eliminate elegance. In fact, the blue hull paint calls attention to some of the more sculpted hull lines, especially aft. Additionally, wenge wood accent strips complement the teak caprails. Both show off glossy finishes, too.
When Crocus sees delivery toward the end of the year, the owner and guests will relax amid a traditional interior arrangement. This means four guest staterooms sit below decks, while the master suite is forward on the main deck. It also means customary lounges are on the main deck as well as the upper deck. Even the chef and stews have traditional ways of working, thanks to the main-deck galley adjoining the formal dining area. The Italian Sea Group characterizes the owner’s overall wishes as being in keeping with a home-like environment. It even extends to the fabrics, which in hues of greys, saffron, and white help create a casual look. Finally, ebony paneling and additional materials like Alcantara marble lend classic appeal.
When the owner and guests want to enjoy the outdoor environment, Crocus provides them with a beach club and 1,076-square-foot (100-square-meter) sundeck. Of course, the megayacht carries several tenders and toys as well.
While The Italian Sea Group has not revealed the owner’s cruising plans, he’ll have abundant choices. Best range should be 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, under Caterpillar power. Cruising speed during sea trials was 16 knots.
Crocus’ launch comes several weeks after the launch of yet another Admiral project, Geco. Splashing in June, Geco is larger, at 181”1” (55.2-meters), and has a strong family focus.
