Encompassing four decks within 210 feet (64 meters) of length, Atomic and her owners are enjoying a maiden voyage in the Med. Soon, though, she will cross the Atlantic Ocean for the first of many adventurous, inspiring diving trips to come.
The owners are longtime avid divers, and experienced yacht owners, too. In fact, the husband surprised his wife and the rest of his family with a smaller, Turkish-built Atomic several years ago. This time around, more space and of course more comfort were key. With styling by Espen Øino, interiors by Darnet Design, and construction from VSY, Atomic meets their aesthetic and performance needs.
For instance, for the party of 12 who can cruise aboard, the owners specified a cozy, relaxed ambience. Additionally, they wanted to convey a sense of warmth. Franck Darnet’s design studio therefore used light walnut wood along with glossy elm, textured leathers, and stainless steel inserts to create the right moods. Outside, meanwhile, the coziness continues, especially thanks to a fire pit forward on the sundeck. Warm, sunny days will be spent in the infinity pool just aft.
Since VSY emphasizes environmentally minded systems in its builds, the owners were keen to incorporate them. Especially of note, Atomic employs dynamic-positioning technology for anchorless station keeping. Some areas the owners intend to dive are remote, so they want to leave as little impact as possible. Furthermore, Atomic has exhaust filters to reduce fumes and emissions. Finally, the megayacht features diesel-electric propulsion, promising a cruising speed of 12 knots.
Jean-Claude Carme, the owners’ representative from TWW Yachts, says Atomic is “the much-awaited materialization of a vision and the promise of uniquely happy times at sea.” He adds, “We wish the owners a wonderful time onboard and we will follow and assist with enthusiasm the yacht’s ambitious program of navigation to the world’s most remote and spectacular dive sites.”
