The final touches are in place at a new marina in the heart of Italy’s Genoa. The newly opened Waterfront Marina, with amenities for owners and crew, is part of an expansion by the refit and repair specialist Amico & Co.
The Waterfront Marina can accommodate 26 megayachts to 361 feet (110 meters). Altogether, it features two quays stretching a total of 1,509 feet (460 meters), plus a 230-foot-long (70-meter-long) structural pontoon. Of course, internet and other customary services are available in each slip. On land, meanwhile, a variety of facilities cater to the crew who are managing refit projects at Amico & Co. Specifically, Waterfront Marina offers a barbecue area, a yoga studio, a gym, tennis courts, and a multi-sport court. The latter is ideal for basketball, paddleball, or soccer (below, foreground). Furthermore, offices, a lounge, and a meeting room, along with a kitchen, are conveniences for both the crew and owners. Finally, a parking lot with upwards of 100 spaces—including 13 for electric cars—is for them to use as well.
The Waterfront Marina is the latest development in a previously announced megayacht hub. As part of this, Amico & Co. already had a shuttle bus in place to take crew into Genoa’s city center to enjoy restaurants, sporting events, and nightlife, for instance. Additionally, Amico & Co. and the local agency Pesto Sea Group created an online guide outlining local and regional trips, like skiing and snowboarding in the Alps. It further listed gastronomy tours and hiking trips. Ultimately, all of the hub components, including Waterfront Marina, aim to make Genoa a home port, besides extending better hospitality. “Thanks to this new, high-tech infrastructure with high-quality standards and a series of complementary services for crews, managers, and owners, we wanted to further enhance what we can offer and confirm the leadership of Genoa and its territory at an international level,” says Alberto Amico, Amico & Co.’s chairman.
