A third-time collaboration among Ferretti Yachts and two design studios is leading to the launch next year of the first Ferretti 860. She’ll be one of its largest flying-bridge cruisers so far.
With an LOA of 88’4” (26.95 meters) and a beam of 20’4” (6.22 meters), the megayacht started, as is tradition, with Ferretti’s own engineering and design departments. The builder brought in Filippo Salvetti for styling and Ideaeitalia for interior design. The three previously came together to produce the flagship Ferretti 1000 and the Ferretti 500.
One of the first and most important design details driven by the shipyard is the incorporation of more glass. Full-height windows are increasingly becoming not just popular, but the norm for megayachts. Therefore, the Ferretti 860 has nearly floor-to-ceiling windows along her main deck. Additionally, glass insets characterize cutouts in the bulwarks, enhancing owners’ and guests’ views whether they’re seated within or simply walking through the saloon. The section of glass to starboard of the dining area on this same deck slides open, too, Finally, a sizable glass inset borders the aft-deck seating and dining area (below) for an even more enjoyable cruising experience.
Since the Ferretti 860 is a semi-custom megayacht, Ideaeitalia has two design packages from which to choose. The Classic décor features dark yet warm tones for woods and other materials, with other colors creating strong contrasts. The Contemporary package, meanwhile, features lighter, cooler colors and abundant tone-on-tone combinations as well as white.

Regardless of your design preferences, furnishings in all lounges and staterooms are free-standing. Speaking of staterooms, all four, including your suite, go below decks. The master sits amidships, for making the most of the beam. A VIP sits forward, and the last two guest staterooms comprise a twin and a double. Two crew cabins for four people are standard as well, accessible via a dedicated stairway by the inside helm.
Since flying-bridge cruisers emphasize alfresco areas, naturally the Ferretti 860 offers a few places to enjoy the ambience. The foredeck is particularly notable for being a multi-function area, serving as a dining spot or as a giant sunbed. Fully up top, meanwhile, the 860’s flying bridge can come three different ways. Choose among a typical hardtop with a glass center, a hardtop with sliding glass, or a hardtop with louvered sections for sun or shade.
The Ferretti 860, with a garage for a tender and a PWC, should see a 27-knot cruising speed and 32-knot maximum speed with the standard MAN engines. Optional MANs should drop each speed to 24 knots and 28 knots, respectively.
