The keel-laying ceremony for the 148-foot (45-meter) Project T at Cantiere delle Marche was extra special this week. Not only did the owners witness it, but also one of them welded the small steel plate seen below to the keel.
The latest explorer yacht from the shipyard is for owners who plan to cruise the world. They have “highly demanding requisites as for construction quality and reliability,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, the yard’s co-founder and sales and marketing director. He adds that their enthusiasm, plus the contributions of design studios Hydro Tec and Giorgio Cassetta, “reminds me why I’ve chosen to start this venture with (co-founder) Ennio Cecchini and why I love so much what I do!”
The owners of Project T signed the contract late last year. Cassetta says he worked with them for more than a year on a “long and careful refinement” of the design. “Many productive design iterations” resulted, too. They include the nearly vertical bow and enlarged ports on the main and upper decks for taking in the views. Additionally, Project T prioritizes alfresco living and safe passage fore to aft thanks to wide side decks.
Inside, the owners have a full-beam suite forward on the main deck. They can enjoy a little extra privacy thanks to a lounge within the suite. When they’re cruising with family or friends, though, up to eight can join them, getting four guest staterooms below decks.
Thanks to Hydro Tec’s naval architecture, Project T should allow for plenty of adventures for all. Twin MAN engines and the steel displacement hull should allow a top speed of 14½ knots. Cantiere delle Marche further anticipates a range exceeding 4,000 nautical miles.
Frank Grzeszczak, Jr. of FGI Group, which represents the owners, notes “countless hours” to get to this point. He believes Project T “will set a new standard for projects in this size category and bring many incredible memories for a family who deserves the very best.”
