If X marks the spot, then Project X marks one of the most immediately recognizable new megayachts. It’s due to the giant X designs flanking her superstructure. Golden Yachts, the Greek shipyard behind equally massive megayachts like O’Pari in 2020 and O’Ptasia in 2018, has this new launch to its credit.
Golden Yachts transferred the voluminous 289-foot (88-meter) Project X to a floating dock earlier this month. Coming in at close to 3,000 gross tons, she has distinctive lines from Ken Freivokh’s studio. She further has a distinctive amount of glass. Not only are huge panes behind the above-mentioned X features, but also a large skylight is on her uppermost deck. In fact, that skylight tops a three-deck-high atrium. Still on the subject of glass, a sizable glass elevator travels within that atrium. Golden Yachts says the elevator is one of the largest comprised of glass ever installed on a private yacht.
Up to 14 guests can enjoy leisure areas inside and out like lounges, dining areas, and more. One such area, for example, places a marble-topped dining table as the center of attention. Further stand-out interior highlights include a Finnish sauna and spa, plus a hammam. For the look and feel of these and other areas, the owner collaborated with Italy-based Massari Design. Although full décor details aren’t available, expect Project X to show off dozens and dozens of stones, woods, and other luxury surfaces.
The ample beam of nearly 49 feet (14.8 meters) means Project X can have all guests gathered together in one spot, too, while preserving a sensation of space. Of course, alfresco areas will be plenty popular, with them including a glass-walled pool and a beach club.
Sea trials should confirm a maximum speed just over 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, under Caterpillar power. The sea trials will take place during the coming weeks. Delivery is expected in time for the summer season in the Med.
