Viareggio is without question the yacht-construction capital of Italy, especially with several superyacht shipyards there. A new builder is targeting superyacht buyers, drawing upon previous experience in the field. Centouno Navi is further drawing upon specific experience with fast yachts, promoting two models so far that should exceed 58 knots.
The shipyard comes from Manuela Lucchesi and Marco Arnaboldi. Fittingly, both grew up and still live in Viareggio. Lucchesi is a designer and entrepreneur, while Arnaboldi is a naval architect who further founded AB Yachts in 1992. AB Yachts, of course, gained renown for its waterjet-equipped swift yachts. “Marco and I are people of the sea,” Lucchesi says. They’ve known each other since childhood, too. “With Marco’s 30 years in the yachtbuilding industry and my flair for design, the soul of the sea lies at the heart of Centouno,” she states.
Centouno Navi is leveraging Arnaboldi’s background to produce waterjet-powered, performance-oriented yachts. To keep weight down and structures strong, carbon fiber composite construction is a priority. PVC foam coring plays a role, too. Waterjets have well-known advantages, including low vibration and sound, less maintenance, quick acceleration, and shallow draft.
To promote its capabilities, the shipyard has two concepts so far, Forza and Eterea. The 92-foot (28-meter) Forza (top right) features a triple 2,000-hp MAN engine package with triple MJP waterjets. Centouno Navi says she’ll see a remarkable 60-knot maximum speed. Cruising, meanwhile, should occur at 50 knots. Even at that speed, remarkably, the Forza should achieve a range of 500 nautical miles. A fuel capacity of 1,849 gallons (7,000 liters) helps. Suitably for a swift superyacht, the profile is low and includes an elongated bow with a sunpad. A nice feature aft is terraced relaxation area, with the swim platform leading up to the sunbed/tender stowage, and then up to dining or seating on the main deck level. Note, too, that the bulwarks to each side of the sunbed/tender stowage fold down.
Inside, meanwhile, four staterooms sit below decks, including the master. Additionally, a nice feature on the main deck is the opening windscreen forward of the helm. It allows passage quickly to the foredeck, plus essentially walk-through access fore to aft. Finally, the shipyard intends to offer eco-friendly decor materials, plus ones that are recyclable.
The Eterea model, meanwhile (top left), measures 128 feet (39 meters) and is a trideck. She has a quadruple 2,900-hp MTU package with MJP waterjets, set for a 58-knot top end and 50-knot cruising speed. Similar to her smaller sister, she has folding bulwarks aft. Centouno Navi offers buyers a hot tub integrated with a sunbed on the foredeck, if they so wish. It further can conceal the crew tender. A guest tender or chase boat can stow aft.
Both models are semi-custom, therefore available for personalized staterooms and other areas.
