The smallest in Extra Yachts’ so-called crossover series of superyachts hit the water this week. Bearing a blue paint job suiting a seagoing project, the X76 Loft puts a lot of usable space at her owners’ disposal despite assumptions over her length.
Revealed last summer, the new all-fiberglass yacht measures 76’8” (23.4 meters). Her styling and naval architecture are by Palumbo Superyachts, Extra Yachts’ parent company, along with Guida Design. The most immediately striking feature of that styling is the farther-forward superstructure. This allows for an extra-long, extra-open aft area, rivaling that of larger superyachts. Aboard the X76 Loft, the owner gets 538 square feet (50 square meters), spread out among three cascading levels, too. The owner and guests therefore can hop on watertoys or dive into the water at the lowest level, then enjoy sunning, dining, cocktails, and/or simply socializing on the other two.
Extra Yachts welcomed the owner’s special requests for the layout of the X76 Loft—which is why she bears the “Loft” designation. For instance, the owner wanted a fully enclosed helm, for separation from the guests. In the standard version, the yacht has an open-plan layout. Additionally, to port of the helm, the owner requested dedicated access to the crew’s quarters below decks. Furthermore, for guests’ convenience, he asked for a day head directly at the aft-deck doors.
Of course, the owner also wanted the interior décor to reflect his tastes. He therefore worked with Hot Lab. Although images and illustrations aren’t available, together they ensured the four below-deck staterooms—including the master—are welcome respites from a hard day of play.
Sea trials will take place shortly. The shipyard team anticipates the yacht achieving a top speed of 21 knots. The twin Volvo Penta IPS 1350s should also allow a 15-knot cruising speed. Note, too, that the yacht has solar panels to handle the hotel load and further reduce fuel consumption.
The yacht will make her global premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
