Owners of yachts emerging from the Northern European shipyards typically enjoy a maiden summer cruise in northern climes. However, more and more owners and guests are enjoying cruising specifically in Norway even in the years after the yachts see delivery. Mulder’s Calypso is among them, and what you’re about to see proves why the country is so popular.
Mulder’s Calypso, whose hand-over took place in 2019, is part of the Mulder ThirtySix series. More recently, that 118-foot (36-meter) series has seen deliveries like Solemates. With a fast-displacement hull form, she cruises around 15 knots, ideal for truly taking in the sights without missing a thing.
Although the stunning scenery is the star of this show, there’s actually an interesting story behind the superyacht herself. The family-run Mulder Shipyard started the project on spec, further with the notion that the yacht could be a personal platform for them to use for a bit. Of course, the family knew that potential customers could step in at any time, so they incorporated some smart features. For instance, they decided to make her a four-stateroom yacht, especially for charter appeal. Specifically, the Mulders realized that oftentimes just two couples/families will book yachts of her size range. Therefore, the VIP stateroom aboard Calypso is comparable to a master suite, to keep both families happy. On a side note, they were right on the mark. Ultimately, a buyer stepped in and has offered her for charter, quite successfully, too.
Overall, the spatial arrangements onboard Mulder’s Calypso keep charter guests and the owner’s guests happy. With a 26-foot (8-meter) beam, she’s actually more spacious than her profile may make her seem. Further more spacious than you would expect, the beach club encompasses a little more than 161 square feet (15 square meters). That’s perfect for the guests to board the tender or take toys out amid the fjords. For spotting wildlife and approaching anchorages, meanwhile, the sundeck is ideal. Everyone can gather there at once due to the 807-square-foot (75-square-meter) arrangement.
Enjoy the scenery… and then plan your own voyage to Norway. Surely you won’t regret it.
