RIBs have come a long way over the past two decades. They are more durable and comfortable for dayboat use plus regular watersports use. Highfield Boats has higher-end customers like you in mind for two new models. Both the Highfield Sport 900 and Sport 760 will premiere at the world’s largest in-water boat show in October.
In fact, the two RIBs will make their North American debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), from October 26 to 29. The company’s Sport Series focuses on craft ideal as superyacht tenders and day boats, in sizes ranging from 10 to 30 feet (3 to 9 meters). Each Sport Series has higher-style looks and amenities, too, compared to Highfield’s other models. For instance, some have diamond-stitched upholstery and faux teak decking. The Highfield Sport 900 (above) and Sport 760 (below), meanwhile, have expanded seating and more deck space. Furthermore, they have dining and lounging areas that include sinks and refrigerators.
The Highfield Sport 900 and Sport 760 can suit superyachts where owners and guests have a sense of adventure, too. For instance, both feature military-grade, powder-coated aluminum hulls based on Highfield Boat’s Patrol Series. Those commercial-quality RIBs target customers seeking ultra-durable and ultra-seaworthy boats. The larger of the two new Sport RIBs, the nearly 30-foot-long Sport 900, should top out at 60 mph with twin 300-hp outboards for thrilling rides. At your chosen destination, you and your guests can use the swim platform to ease into the water, then rinse off via a handheld shower at the transom. Should you prefer more sedate activities along the way, the bow seating area converts to a sunpad, complementing a sunpad aft. Additionally, standard equipment includes a Sunbrella bimini, a galley with refrigerator, and a settee and table. Optional amenities include a fiberglass hardtop and a sunshade.
The 25-foot Highfield Sport 760 is for those of you who also want a tender to handle a crowd. It can seat 10 adults overall, for example, plus top out at 55 mph with a single 300-hp outboard. Facing settees are aft, with a table, encouraging conversations and cocktails among good company (six people maximum). Beverages come courtesy of a drawer-style refrigerator, which is standard equipment. Optionally, add a bimini back here. Forward, meanwhile, the bow seating area doubles as sunning space. Note, too, that the helm can hold a portable head, conveniently for long days out playing. And, finally, swimmers, snorkelers, and even scuba divers easily can use the swim platform.
Christophe Lavigne, Highfield Boats’ president, says the company previously primarily marketed its smaller RIBs in North America. But, since it has experienced “meteoric growth” throughout the continent, “we are excited to be launching these big new Sport models in North America.” The company is convinced they’ll especially meet the specific needs of American boaters.
