Next autumn, the Sport 900 RIB from aluminum RIB and tender manufacturer Highfield Boats will be available stateside. It pledges 60-mph speeds and stable performance as an all-day, multi-mile offshore cruiser.
The 11-year-old company set its sights on the superyacht tender and dayboat market starting in 2020. Specifically, the company decided its Sport series best suits these roles. Each provides welcome design features for a full day’s adventure, such as seating and sunning areas. The Sport 900 RIB, coming in at 29’11” (9.12 meters), is the new flagship. It just launched for the overseas market this month.
The size simply makes sense to the company. “In the past five years, we have seen the market for larger offshore-capable RIBs grow as superyachts continue to get larger,” explains Tom Watson, Highfield Boats USA’s general manager. (Manufacturing takes place in China.) He adds that big dayboats with outboards simultaneously “soared in popularity, and customer demands have continued to evolve.”
The Sport 900 RIB has a deep-V hull, with a deadrise angle of 26 degrees for better performance in rougher seas. Your crew will appreciate the ability to tow and lift the boat on or off deck, given integrated davit lifting eyes. Light weight helps, too. Including the console, the driver seat, the sundeck, and a tow post, the boat weighs 3,730 pounds (1,692 kilograms). Plus, the Hypalon tubes and powder-coated aluminum hull stand up to the marine environment and your desire to spend plenty of time onboard.
Standard features include bow and stern sundecks. plus a rear table and benchseat. They further include EVA teak, diamond-stitched upholstery, and a swim platform. Further luxury-oriented details include a Sunbrella fabric canopy, a Vitrifrigo refrigerator, a cooking area, and a shower kit.
