Two years of examining offerings on the brokerage market, unsuccessfully, convinced an owner to sign a new build. That new build is hull number one of the super-stylish Dynamiq GTT 160 series.
Dynamiq initially revealed the design in 2020. The company’s CEO and founder, Sergei Dobroserdov, said that the 162-footer (49.5-meter) intended to stand apart from a crowded field. “There are so many 50-meter yachts below 500 GT available, but they all look very similar with pretty much the same functionality,” he explained. “We asked ourselves: ‘What can we bring to the market that makes more sense for our clients?’”
The resulting GTT 160 uses Van Oossanen Naval Architects’ hull design further with a Hull Vane foil to reduce drag. The combination additionally allows using smaller engines compared to similar-size steel yachts. (The GTT 160 is aluminum and carbon fiber.) Expect a top speed exceeding 22 knots yet a 4,500-nautical-mile range around her 16-knot cruising speed.
The owner’s representative, Pierre Badin from Denison Yachting, says he originally intensely researched pre-owned options on his client’s behalf. Despite regularly sharing his findings, he and the owner concluded “the yacht of his dreams was not on the pre-owned market,” and “we would be better off building it.” A few more months of research led them to the Dynamiq GTT 160. She ticked all the boxes, thankfully. For instance, not only was she in his desired size range, but she also has a spacious master and transatlantic capability while simultaneously being fuel efficient. “The amazingly modern and sexy design, along with the six-cabin layout and the large swimming pool on the aft deck were just a bonus,” Badin adds.
Of course, since Dynamiq welcomes customization, the owner took advantage of it. He wanted a family-oriented yacht, so some configurations to the original concept needed adapting. Although Badin doesn’t mention any specifics, he does say “they showed extreme flexibility in fulfilling all of the owner’s wishes.” Generally speaking, look for this GTT 160 to have an observation deck boasting great views all around, along with a beach club connecting to the pool.
Bearing a nearly 30-foot (9-meter) beam, the GTT 160 should see delivery a little over two years after construction begins.
