Legions of superyacht crew know Alene Keenan. A leading luxury-hospitality educator, she quite literally wrote the book when it comes to proper service standards aboard private yachts. It’s among the reasons why she has earned the nickname the Yacht Stew Guru. This guru is out with a new book, Wine Anxiety: From Confused to Confident, based on the repeated questions she receives from crewmembers about selecting and serving wines. In some cases, the crew say they’re asked to buy wines on behalf of the owners and guests, but don’t have enough knowledge to suggest varietals. Keenan realized that plenty of people, including owners, pretend they know or are afraid to admit they really don’t know. Therefore, Wine Anxiety: From Confused to Confident walks you through the basics like grape types all the way to deepening your understanding of tasting characteristics.
