A 17-acre (70,000-square-meter) commercial shipyard and dry dock in northeastern Italy now belongs to the Ferretti Group. The site will handle Wally sailing-yacht construction and some models of its other brands.
The shipyard is on the Adriatic Coast of Italy, specifically in San Vitale, within the province of Ravenna. This is in proximity to the Group’s headquarters in Forlì and one of its shipyards, in Cattolica. Cattolica is where Ferretti Yachts see construction. Additionally, the newly acquired yard is north of Ancona, where the Group’s Superyacht Yard sits. All CRN and Custom Line projects see production in the Ancona facility, as do the largest Pershing and Riva models.
Although the Ferretti Group did not name the yard it acquired, it belonged to Rosetti Marino. Rosetti Marino is a large commercial shipbuilder that is further the parent company of Rosetti Superyachts. The latter has operated out of the San Vitale facility for the past several years. Its management team issued a statement saying it is not part of the deal.
The newly acquired facility will receive investments to create new production areas, as well as an R&D center. The investments will be spread out over a few years, too. Ultimately, the Group anticipates increasing its production capacity by about 20 percent.
“We have big plans and picture a state-of-the-art production site from every point of view: worker well-being, positive social impact, environmental protect—also by carefully selecting the materials used—and increased production,” says Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO. Besides moving Wally’s production to the shipyard, he says, the Group will move the Ferretti Yachts InFYnito range there, too.
