At Princess Yachts, the “S” in “S Class” stands for Sportbridge, a line of flying-bridge-equipped yachts that thus far hasn’t included superyachts. The Princess S80 yacht changes that. What she doesn’t change, though, is the ability for owners to take the wheel themselves.
Coming in at just over 83 feet (25 meters) LOA, the newest S Class member features design input, like her sisters, from Pininfarina and Olesinski. In fact, she’s largely based on the S72, which just premiered in January. She steps things up with accommodations for eight and crew cabins for three, appealing to buyers who prefer focusing on guests just as much as those who prefer managing operations. For the former, the 309-square-foot (28.7-square-meter) flying bridge is the hang-all-day area. A wetbar and barbecue (plus a refrigerator, of course) take care of refreshments and meals for the nearby dining area. They also cater to the friends and family enjoying the views and good conversations amid the various seating areas, or watching midnight movies on the pop-up TV.
The open-plan main-deck interior feels more like an alfresco area, meanwhile, thanks to a full-beam, optional sliding roof. Since a large opening window sits adjacent to the sliding-glass doors for the saloon, the interior opens up even further. That window connects the galley/bar aft to port inside with the alfresco dining area as well. And, speaking of that dining area, it gains wind protection from the saloon windows stretching aft beyond the sliding-glass doors.
Naturally, you can configure a number of areas aboard the Princess S80 yacht as you wish. So, for instance, the aft-deck dining table can be extra-large and the only furnishings there. Or, two aft settees can join a more modest six- to eight-seater table. You can request a day head inside the saloon, too. Additionally, the Princess Design Studio offers four interiors packages, including silver oak (shown) and satin-finished walnut.
For owner-operators, the Princess S80 yacht makes things convenient. A pantographic door to starboard of the main helm yields faster access to the foredeck for line handling. A dedicated laundry area can sit in the lazarette. (If you opt for crew, a crew mess can replace it.) Whether you take the wheel on the flying bridge or inside, you’ll enjoy the reported 32- to 34-knot top end (depending on the power package you choose). Note, too, you can opt for fin or gyro stabilizers.
All that’s left to do is to launch the Williams Sport Jet tender from the port-side garage or stretch out on the aft sunpads perched above the swim platform.
