With engineering for speeds around 50 knots, the VQ115 yacht, the largest project to date from Dutch builder Vanquish Yachts, celebrated her official launch in mid-May.
Vanquish Yachts’ first superyacht comes 11 years after the shipyard opened its doors, for performance-oriented custom yachts of various sizes. Triple 2,650-hp MTUs with surface drives and a narrow hull prioritizing speed and, of course, comfort make her fast focus possible. The design and engineering come from Studio Delta and Petestep. She’s therefore the world’s largest entirely aluminum yacht with traditional diesel engines.
Whether at anchor or cruising, the VQ115 yacht will support entertaining friends and family. Her flying bridge, for instance, provides sunning space, plus a little more privacy than the large main aft deck does. An equally large foredeck will let a handful of guests gather together, too. Nicely, the decking on the main aft deck flows straight through into the interior. This makes the indoor-outdoor ambience more cohesive when the doors between the two remain open.
Inside, the owner took advantage of true customization. Working with Guido de Groot Design, the studio further responsible for styling, the owner requested the galley below decks. It does, though, have a country kitchen layout, therefore letting guests chat with the chef. The placement frees up main-deck space for an office and movable furniture to suit shifting entertainment needs. This deck has a pantry with its own bar, too. Three staterooms, including the master, are all below decks. However, when extra people are aboard, Pullman berths in a media room press into service. Otherwise, the media room is the place to enjoy music and movies, complete with experiential sound.
Watertoys are a high priority, too. The VQ115 yacht carries two smaller sisters, a VQ16 and a VQ11, The larger tender sits in a garage just off the hydraulic swim platform, which will help with launch and retrieval. Yet another garage, this time to starboard, houses the smaller tender, along with SeaBobs, paddleboards, and more. It even has a livewell, since the owner enjoys fishing.
Delivery should take place this summer.
