Two hundred and seventy-two feet (83 meters) of superyacht space is heading for sea trials. The Feadship yacht Project 712, still under non-disclosure agreements, maneuvered through narrow countryside canals in The Netherlands several days ago, via tugs.
Launching in March from the Royal De Vries facilities, the megayacht features styling by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. Lots of full-height glass rims each deck, with teak prominently covering the foredeck and side decks. Since the Feadship yacht Project 712 remains confidential, neither Feadship nor the design teams can reveal how many staterooms are aboard or details about leisure spaces. However, during the transport, it was easy to see a long pool on her main aft deck, for instance. Similarly, two nice-size settees sit practically nestled against the long foredeck. The positioning should be ideal for enjoying refreshing breezes and nice views while simultaneously having privacy preserved.
Further features that seem to be onboard include opening platforms aft for a beach club. Speaking of aft, “Capri Aalsmeer” is visible on the transom. Aalsmeer is the city where the Royal De Vries shipyard is located. Capri could be her real name, although some yacht watchers disagree.
As you watch the video, don’t think your eyes are deceiving you. The Feadship yacht Project 712 is truly heading stern-first along the canals and through the bridges. It’s a common practice among yacht and ship builders whose vessels need to navigate narrow waterways. The stern is the widest part of the yacht or ship. Therefore, the captains and crews towing her can determine quite quickly if they need to make adjustments. Similarly, two towing vessels accompany each yacht or ship to ensure better maneuverability through tight turns.
Feadship should deliver the megayacht within the next few months.
