American buyers have been long familiar with Cheoy Lee. The builder has just marked the technical launch of its latest megayacht. The Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer just emerged from the metal-fabrication facility, set for delivery by the end of the year. At that point, the builder expects a buyer to set his or her sights on cruising traditional and far-off destinations.
In fact, Cheoy Lee says the 130-foot (39.73-meter) trideck should be able to put 4,200 nautical miles under her hull at 10 knots. It’s more than adequate to cover New England to Florida, then head to South America or the South Pacific. Since getting to the destination is as much a part of the enjoyment as exploring it, the megayacht has a leisurely top speed, too. It’s 13 knots, thanks to Caterpillar power and a steel displacement hull.
Cruisers with large families or who enjoy welcoming different groups of friends will appreciate that The Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer has accommodations for 10. Some of the best real estate is reserved for the owners, forward on the main deck. But, everyone has use of the beach club at the water’s edge, plus several relaxation spots. In fact, the trideck configuration provides enclosed and alfresco areas to get together pre- or post-dinner, and to enjoy the views.
Although images and illustrations aren’t available, Sylvia Bolton Design is responsible for the décor, reportedly welcoming yet also quite sophisticated. The American studio has collaborated with Cheoy Lee on a number of its megayachts over the years. The same is true of designer Jon Overing, responsible for the profile.
