Saint-Tropez Yachting Book Puts the Racing Action in Your Hands

As you read this, the annual Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is celebrating its 25^th anniversary. The nine-day race brings together hundreds of modern and classic sailing yachts, and countless spectators on land and aboard their own yachts. If you’re not there, the next best thing is to get a copy of the newly published Saint-Tropez Yachting book. Thanks to the authors and photographers who contributed, the excitement and energy leap from the pages.

Published by Assouline, which is renowned for its coffee-table books, Saint-Tropez Yachting traces the history of the race to the present day. You’ll learn, for instance, that the regatta—hailed as one of sailing’s best—originated from a conversation in a restaurant. The book’s authors, Laurence Benaim and Didier Ravon, know the subject well. In fact, Ravon actually raced in Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. He’s further the former editor-in-chief of the magazine Voiles et Voiliers, to which he still contributes. Benaim, meanwhile, is an accomplished magazine editor and writer plus book author, writing about topics like fashion.
