While the Amalfi Coast and the Tyrrhenian Sea earn high marks from superyacht charter guests, there’s much more to Italy. One destination steadily turning heads is Sicily. The owners of the sailing yacht Satori, who also own a centuries-old Tuscan villa-turned-hotel, are eager to introduce guests to the largest island in the Med.

Sicily offers a distinct blend of cultures, especially in its architecture and food. Its shores are dotted with old-world fishing villages and beautiful beaches, and even in its larger cities, life is never rushed. Simultaneously, it offers ancient sites, charming pedestrian shopping streets, and volcanic landscapes.

While charters are tailored to the experiences you wish to enjoy, the sailing yacht Satori is special herself. Her owners, Claus and Jeanette Thottrup, built her in 2017 in Turkey. Vacations spent sailing as children were the inspiration for this 136-footer (41.5-meter), which is entirely mahogany. In fact, the Thottrups designed the interior themselves. Several years before building Satori, they had completely transformed a dilapidated villa in Tuscany into a luxurious boutique hotel. That hotel, Borgo Santo Pietro, blends old-world charm and a high level of service. The Thottrups consider Satori an extension of Borgo Santo Pietro, prioritizing simple elegance and intimate enjoyment.

To that end, the yacht carries a maximum of 10 passengers. An abundance of mahogany, walnut, and teak lend warmth to the bygone-era interior décor. Curl up on the saloon’s settee or step out on deck to enjoy the views while underway. Particularly notable, and quite unusual, the galley is open to guests to come and watch the chef prepare dishes, too.

Onboard activities can include midnight movies out on deck or an indulgent spa experience. Specifically, one of the guest staterooms converts into a spa with a steam room. By prior arrangement, you can have a massage therapist onboard, too. The therapeutic products are entirely Seed to Skin Tuscany products, from Borgo Santo Pietro.

Satori’s weekly charter rate starts at €110,000 (about $125,400 at press time).
