One of the best-known luxury-bedding companies that hand-crafts mattresses for superyachts is Savoir. One of the best-known interior designers for superyachts, meanwhile, is Winch Design. The two companies have collaborated on multiple custom projects for customers over the years. So, why not create a bed that is still hand-made and still personalized but available for more potential clients? Meet Tranquility, a bed from Savoir and Winch Design that is as beautiful to look at as it is to sleep upon.
Based in the UK, Savoir traces its roots to 1905. That’s when it made the first bed for the famed Savoy Hotel in London. It’s been making the mattresses ever since, too. Royalty, celebrities, and those who want to drift off to sleep in the most luxurious way possible commission beds from the company. They include, of course, Winch Design customers. Michael Noah, a furniture designer at Winch, conceived the Tranquility bed. It’s a contemporary take on a classic sleigh bed. Yet, it also echoes the grandeur of 1930s-era ocean liners.

Learn more about the Savoir and Winch Design collaboration, with buttery-soft Foglizzo leather, in the May edition of the Megayacht News newsletter.
Sent exclusively to subscribers, the newsletter contains information you won’t find on our daily website. For instance, this month we tell you about the four most recent Custom Line launches—all splashed in less than two months. We also tell you about a change at the helm of Gulf Craft, parent company of Majesty Yachts.

Further in the May newsletter, we provide exclusive details on a first-of-its-kind survey in the superyacht sector. We’re polling shipyard, designers, and brokers to determine how many clients they’ve been dealing with who have a disability, or who have a family member with a disability. Multiple megayachts these days have elevators, broader foyers, and other adapted features to accommodate individuals with mobility challenges. If you’ve attended a yacht show, you surely have noticed docks can be narrow. Furthermore, the distances from one end of the show to the other are extreme. Even where tenders shorten the ride, most are challenging at best and impossible at worst to board with mobility issues. We’ll share the survey results in an article and with industry stakeholders, including show organizers, in anticipation of effecting change.
