Most megayacht owners prefer having professional crew handle all duties, including navigation. However, a few still like to take the wheel themselves. The StellarPM ST88 yacht, a raised-pilthouse long-range cruiser, keeps each in mind. “She’s ideal for both first-time or more experienced owners seeking full-displacement comfort, true oceangoing range, and the customization flexibility make her truly their own,” says Chris Holmes, StellarPM’s principal and founder.

Nearly 88 feet (27 meters) long, the project is the newest in the StellarONE series, all-metal megayachts that include includes the ST108 yacht. She stands out for a few reasons. First, and like her larger sister, the ST88 yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. The overwhelming majority of megayachts in her size range feature composite construction. Secondly, her hull will comply with Lloyd’s classification, and full classification-society compliance is available as well. Hull and superstructure construction and joining are taking place at StellarPM’s Vietnamese facilities. Interiors, meanwhile, are taking shape at its factory in China.

Whether owners handle navigating themselves or relinquish the duties to a captain, the ST88 yacht can take friends and family on extended voyages. StellarPM and Ginton Naval Architects, which have collaborated on a few designs so far, anticipate a 2,800-nautical-mile range at 12 knots. Top speed should be 14 knots, reflecting that the journey and taking in the surroundings at leisure are priorities.

Several interior and on-deck areas are ideal for enjoying those sights. Remarkably for her LOA, the StellarPM ST88 yacht has a main-deck master stateroom. The standard below-decks layout features four guest staterooms and cabins for three to four crewmembers. Unzile Acar of UA Interiors is working with owners to design inside spaces as clients see fit, although matte walnut is the standard paneling choice. Out on deck, meanwhile, the flying bridge is a great place to watch approaching shores come into better view. Different configurations are available, with all incorporating built-in seating and tables, along with sunbeds. Request a hot tub, a bar, and a barbecue to round out the enjoyment-focused amenities. Naturally, StellarPM is including a second helm station on the flying bridge, since so many captains—and owners—like the unobstructed views and open-air experience.

Further including a beach club and full-team tender garage, the ST88 yacht is not yet in build. Notably, StellarPM is offering the project in a semi-displacement version, too. She will be entirely aluminum, with higher-horsepower engines pledging a top speed of 22 knots. Range should still be respectable, though, at 2,200 nautical miles. LOA will be larger as well, specifically 98 feet (29.8 meters).
