Yachting tourism has been increasing in Southeast Asia over the past several years. Indonesia has been a beneficiary, which is why the government is backing marina development. The groundbreaking ceremony for the country’s first full-service marina took place on May 22. By the end of the year, the Bali Benoa Marina, in Bali, will have 40 of its eventual 180 slips available, too.

Although it will take until the third quarter of 2026 for full superyacht slips to be ready, and the end of 2027 for all facilities and operations to be in place, the marina pledges a well-rounded experience. Fifty of the 180 slips will be for superyachts to 295 feet (90 meters), for instance. The docks will be floating concrete docks as well. The Bali Benoa Marina additionally will have a yacht club, a crew club, restaurants, shops, meeting and event spaces, and offices. Emphasizing the larger regional community, the retail space will include local brands, as well as global ones. Furthermore, repair services will be on site, as will a haul-out area and hard-standing space. Overall, the marina will encompass about eight acres (3.3 hectares).

Among further benefits, set to be available when the superyacht slips are, custom and immigration clearance will be on site. So will provisioning services. The marina simultaneously will offer integrated digital booking systems. Furthermore, due to the country’s natural beauty being a big draw, water and forest conservation are cornerstones of the marina.

Of course, the developers and marina staff wish to showcase the larger Indonesian archipelago to yachting visitors. That’s why tailored itineraries and guest experiences throughout Bali and the remaining islands will come from Discover Luxury Indonesia. The same company will handle port clearances, provisioning, and crew logistics.

Indonesian Ministry of Tourism officials participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking and are eager to see the marina open. “The development of Bali Benoa Marina marks a pivotal moment in Indonesia’s transition toward upscale, sustainable tourism,” says Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, the tourism minister. We believe that marine tourism—rooted in our rich maritime heritage—can be one of Indonesia’s strongest offerings on the global tourism stage”
