Superyacht furniture needs to withstand demanding environments, of course. But owners and designers increasingly expect it to make a visual statement, too. German specialist Octoport is addressing both priorities with the new OX1 Club Chair, a sculptural design for indoor and outdoor spaces.
In fact, Designer Arun Maheswaran, Octoport’s founder, built the OX1 around a straightforward philosophy: “The structure is the design.” Rather than hide the chair’s construction, Octoport makes it part of the appeal. Exposed carbon-fiber components combine with stainless steel fittings and individually finished tubular elements.
The OX1 Club Chair is the first of three related configurations. The OX2 is a two-seater, while the OX3 accommodates three people. Together, the OX Collection lets owners and designers carry the same visual language through multiple areas aboard.
Since Octoport makes each piece to order, buyers can specify frame colors, upholstery, and metal finishes. Upholstery choices include fabric and leather, for instance, along with performance and weather-resistant textiles for alfresco use. Tubular components can receive yacht-standard painted finishes as well. Alternatively, buyers can choose a fully polished stainless steel structure with individually hand-finished fittings.
