While catamarans have been the focus of VisionF Yachts since its inception in 2018, it’s striving for even more efficient yachts by going electric. The recently delivered yacht Altraversia is the first in its E-Cat 80 semi-custom series, combining solar power and electric engines.
The 78-footer (24-meter), with a beam of 36 feet (11 meters), features carbon fiber composite construction. She relies on twin electric Danfoss engines that the Turkish shipyard says permit a 6- to 8-knot cruising speed. Additionally, the battery bank receives ongoing charging from 54 solar panels across her hardtop. VisionF Yachts says they generate up to 21.6 kW of energy per hour, in fact. Under ideal conditions, this combination should permit long coastal cruises or transits from one destination to another. For higher-speed cruising needs or emergency backup, though, twin 150-kW diesel gensets provide more peace of mind. They can provide a range reportedly exceeding 1,000 nautical miles.
Besides being attracted to the idea of cleaner cruising, the owner of the yacht Atraversia took advantage of personalizing the project. VisionF Yachts invites clients to choose between an open flying bridge or an enclosed skylounge, for instance. Either way, styling is by Marco Casali – Too Design. Interiors, of course, are for personalizing, too, with VisionF’s team. Overall, there’s a choice of up to seven staterooms, including the master suite.
Atraversia prioritizes fun alfresco enjoyment, including drinks, dining, and sightseeing, on the flying bridge. The broad beam allows for several dedicated areas, without any of them feeling like they’re crowding the others. The two aft seating/dining areas are up a step, too, for a little more separation and sightline advantages. Although the owner didn’t include a hot tub, future customers can request one, along with sunpads and/or an outdoor cinema.
The interior, meanwhile, has a relaxing, subdued décor, to make the guests aboard the yacht Atraversia feel at home even when at sea. Wood wraps around the galley prep, cooking, and glassware consoles, keeping a casual feel within the open-plan main deck. It complements the tone of the wood soles, too. Conveniently for aft-deck alfresco dining, the galley is directly inside the sliding-glass doors. Faux wood accents complement the en suite baths below decks, combining with marble. Throughout the two decks, the owner selected tones of browns, whites, and greys to set the mood.
When the mood calls for off-yacht fun, Atraversia’s crew can launch a tender or two PWCS—or both. The PWCs stow on a hydraulic lifting platform. The tender, meanwhile, stows in a 161-square-foot (15-square-meter) garage with its own electric winch.
The owner of the yacht Altraversia intends to cruise the Adriatic Sea this spring and summer. In related news, VisionF has a second E-Cat 80 yacht under construction. Launch is expected for this summer.
