China’s growing importance as a megayacht-buying market and cruising destination is part of the focus of the Hainan Rendez-Vous, set for April 1 to 4.
Now in its second year, the event is a lifestyle exhibition, not strictly a boat show. It brings together private aviation, art, and real estate companies, along with yacht and megayacht manufacturers. Organizers anticipate results comparable to last year, when a handful of 100-foot-plus yachts were sold. Part of the success is the formula used to attract attendees. Two-hundred fifty CEOs and other high-level executives are flown to and from the exhibition. In addtition, 8,000 other high-net-worth Chinese receive special invitations.
Yacht and superyacht buyers and exhibitors will benefit from in-water and on-land displays. Among the builders attending: Azimut-Benetti (whose 212-foot Ambrosia will be exhibited by YPI in the water); Blohm+Voss, the Ferretti Group, Lürssen, Princess Yachts, and Royal Huisman, each of which exhibited last year. New this year: Heesen Yachts, Icon Yachts (which will be promoting its Icon 53m concept project, among other designs), Kingship, and Sanlorenzo. Both the land and water displays are part of Visun International Yacht Club. There, 50 yachts of all sizes can be accommodated in slips, while an adjacent Marine Village brings together gear manufacturers, PWC makers, and more.
