We’ve come to expect speedy performance and high style of every Pershing, no matter the LOA. Its latest model, the Pershing 108, follows the family tradition, with some twists. Interior and exterior spaces can convert to meet changeable needs, and owners can wear their love of their yacht on their sleeve, literally.
As to the latter, Pershing has partnered with Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier for the Transforma Pershing 108. Similar to the Pershing 108, it can transform according to need. It can be worn as a traditional wristwatch or carried as a pocket watch. Either way, the dial’s pearly white tone matches that of the yacht’s hull. There’s also a tachymeter (similar to a tachometer) that is calibrated to start measuring the yacht’s speed via electro-optics when she passes by.
As to the yacht herself and those speeds, the Pershing 108 is reportedly capable of a 42-knot top end and 37-knot cruise speed. It’s thanks to triple MTU 16V 2000 M94L engines, coupled to three surface propellers. This marks the first Pershing megayacht to feature three engines.
Of course, given today’s fuel prices, running at full speed or on all three engines may not always be desirable. Pershing says the yacht remains comfortable even dialed down to 10 knots, permitting a 1,000-mile-plus range. It also says the 108 can run effectively, and quietly, on just the center engine.
Whether speeding to catch the sunset at the next anchorage or simply enjoying the scenery, the Pershing 108 emphasizes luxury living inside and out. One of the nicest features is the indoor-outdoor flexibility of the saloon. The glass partition between the aft deck and the saloon is divided into an opening door and a drop-down window. With both open, as seen in the photo here, you’ll create a 70-square-meter (754-square-foot) space ideal for lounging, dining, or relaxing. The aft table can seat 10, and there’s welcome shade from the flying-bridge overhang over the entire cockpit.
Also flexible is the number of staterooms. The standard layout includes the master stateroom, three guest cabins, and three crew cabins. The owner of Hull No. 1, however, requested just two guest staterooms, accompanied by an extra lounge/TV room. That room also has a convertible sofa if an extra friend or family member does come aboard. The master suite still occupies the full beam amidships, while fully forward is a VIP stateroom. The guest cabin and the TV room lie on opposite sides of the hallway between the master and VIP. As for crew’s quarters access, it’s via the transom. Three single berths are arranged around the galley and dinette and share a head. (Note that Pershing always changes its models for American tastes when it’s ready to showcase them stateside. That will likely be next year, so the arrangement down here will no doubt be different.)
This being an Italian yacht, and particularly one from within the Ferretti Group, fashion is foremost throughout the interior. That may explain why the owner chose not just soft leather paneling interspersed with sycamore joinery, but specifically leather from Fendi and Poltrona Frau. There’s particularly striking use of leather in the master stateroom, as a headboard that rises up and continues across the overhead. There’s even leather made from python skin covering the dining table. In addition, furnishings and accessories are from Armani Casa.
