Bering 130 Yacht Introduces Builder’s “Vector Yacht” Approach

True explorer yachts often have no-frills styling immediately conveying their purpose. Traditional motoryachts, meanwhile, offer more polished profiles letting you know luxurious comfort is the priority. Bering Yachts believes a segment of buyers is being left out, those who want the advantages of a steel-hulled superyacht explorer alongside lifestyle-oriented looks, and in a modest size. The Bering 130 yacht is its answer, the first of what it calls the Vector Yacht approach. The name represents the direct-line approach to filling the untapped niche.

Other than sharing her name with an explorer from 2017, the Bering 130 is a completely new model for the builder. Design comes from Valentin Design and Aberton Yachts, the same two studios behind the Bering 165 yacht, which this project joins in Bering’s Superyacht Division. Together, the builder and designers blend the best of both worlds in several notable ways.

Firstly, the steel hull is unusual. Overwhelmingly, yachts in the 130-foot (40-meter) size range are fiberglass. Metal is the material of choice for globetrotters who intend to venture off the beaten path. Further to address that intent, the Bering 130 yacht promises a range upwards of 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots. The lower deck also contains walk-in cold and dry stowage for provisions, supporting staying away from shore.

For the lifestyle aspects, a volume of 399 gross tons and four decks are two of biggest differentiators. While buyers can choose from five to six staterooms and pre-set general arrangements, they’re also invited to completely customize the layout. That, too, is unconventional for this size. Regardless of preference, the benefit of the four decks is having a much more private master suite. It’s about half of the deck beneath the flying bridge (third image from top), full beam and looking out over a dedicated alfresco area (immediately above), too. As for the area forward, it can be a study or the formal dining room, also with a good-size pantry.

Finally, the Bering 130 yacht allows the the VIP suite to take over what’s typically the master suite on the main deck. It includes a balcony as well. Mixed with in-demand amenities like a beach club and a pool, this new megayacht model will be available for in-depth discussions at the upcoming fall boat shows.
