Since beach club setups are increasingly popular aboard megayachts, Kusch Yachts has conceived a concept, Project Beach, designed around it.
The 83-meter (272-foot) Project Beach was designed with styling and interior-design input from H2 Yacht Design. Since Kusch Yachts envisions the eventual owner making the most of the megayacht in warm weather, the beach club occupies significant space. In fact, it’s 42 square meters (452 square feet), just shy of the footprint created by the swim platform and adjacent fold-down, tender-boarding balconies on each side. The swim platform and tender-boarding area occupy 50 square meters (538 square feet.), so all totaled, they make for a significant alfresco area.
Since Kusch Yachts doesn’t want the tenders and toys to impinge on this space, Project Beach has a garage forward on the main deck. It can house a limo tender, an open tender, and four PWCs. Of course, the eventual mix will be left to the owner’s choice.
Also left to the owner’s choice is the interior designer. However, Project Beach’s suggested general arrangement provides accommodations for either 12 or 16 in the owner’s party, depending on the regulations to which she is eventually built. (MCA’s LY2 regulations caps guest capacity at 12. Regardless, Kusch Yachts and H2 Yacht Design have designed the megayacht to be MCA compliant and meet Lloyds classification requirements.) Kusch Yachts plans crew accommodations for 25 and additional housing for up to two staff members. These cabins occupy the lower deck, from the engine room forward. The crew mess is also here, though the primary galley is one deck down, within the tank deck and various stowage.
The crew have a dedicated stairway leading to the owner’s suite, occupying much of its own deck. The stateroom is forward, benefiting from excellent views and balcony doors. Better yet, the en suite head has a waterfall-effect shower, as seen in the images above.
There is a common gathering area fully aft of the owner’s suite, an additional formal dining room. Guests enjoy good spaces and views, elsewhere, too. All of their staterooms are on the main deck. Given Project Beach’s 14-meter (46-foot) beam, the rooms should enjoy good elbowroom. A favorite friend or family member gets special treatment in a VIP stateroom on the bridge deck.
The owner and guests alike will enjoy abundant entertainment options throughout Project Beach’s five decks. Besides the main saloon, Project Beach has a bridge-deck saloon that H2 Yacht Design likens to a gallery. Instead of dedicating another room to movie-watching, the megayacht has a multifunction space for flicks and other means of relaxing. Outside, the upper-deck sunpad accompanies a pool, gym, and sauna. The sunning space can double as a helipad.
Powered by traditional diesel engines, Project Beach should attain a 16-knot cruising speed and 5,000-nautical-mile range at that speed. Kusch Yachts will optionally install diesel-electric propulsion.
When a contract is signed, construction in steel and aluminum will take place at Kusch Yachts’ facilities at Peters Schiffbau in Germany.
