Most details are still under wraps, but Mogambo made her first appearance outside of her finishing shed at Nobiskrug earlier today.
Measuring 241 feet (73.55 meters), Mogambo was previously known as hull 782. Construction was started at another Nobiskrug-owned facility down the river from the finishing shed, as per its typical practice. Mogambo left that build shed in March of last year for the shed where she was photographed today.
Mogambo bears styling and interior design from Reymond Langton Design, marking the first Nobiskrug launch bearing their work. (However, the design team is also responsible for Graffiti, a same-size Nobiskrug under construction.)
Other quick facts about Mogambo: beam is 39 feet (12 meters), draft is nearly 12 feet (3.55 meters), and propulsion is via MTU diesels. Delivery is expected by the end of the year.
UPDATE, MARCH 12, 2012: Mogambo has been causing quite a stir in the UK this week. She pulled into Bristol, England on Monday, a town few megayachts make a port of call. But, its proximity to London seems to have been an influencing factor. As Mogambo’s captain told the Bristol Evening Post, “I didn’t know much about Bristol before this, but there is a lot of maritime history here, and if you get a chance to go to interesting ports, why not? Bristol has the facilities and the dock and a good all-weather port, and it is so close to the South Coast and London. We are here for a few days or maybe up to a week. What is nice is for the boat to be here in a port that doesn’t see so many of these major yachts.”
Mogambo will head to the Mediterranean soon after to welcome her owner onboard for his first official cruise. Mogambo will then also be available for charter, with Hill Robinson as the central agent.
