Yesterday, the latest Lürssen came into sight at its Rendsburg, Germany facility. She’s Ester III, which was previously known simply as project Green.
Ester III measures 216’5” (66 meters), with a beam of 39 feet (11.9 meters). She bears styling by Espen Øino and interior design by Reymond Langton Design. The owner directed Øino to make the style quite masculine, in contrast to a detailed, elaborate interior. Those are, unfortunately, the only facts released publicly so far. However, it isn’t terribly surprising. Many Lürssen clients in recent years have requested that their megayachts be kept mostly (sometimes fully) confidential.
There is one extra bit of news, though. In a press release a few months ago, Lürssen promised that project Green would have “some radical design features.” The profile of Ester III is undoubtedly different than that of most other megayachts. Her angular features, some accentuated with grey paint, catch the eye. Note how the vertical rectangular ports complement them, too. Given the current megayacht trend of floor-to-ceiling glass, we surmise those ports are either full or nearly full height.
When more details become available, we’ll update this story accordingly. In the meantime, the name “Ester III” may lead you to believe this is not the owner’s first yacht. Ester III is a step up in size from Ester II, measuring 167 feet (51 meters). Ester II was also a brokerage buy. She was originally christened Iliki VIII, built by Codecasa in 2005.
