Vicem is about six months away from publicly presenting this new flagship, the 107 Cruiser.
Initially called the Vicem 100 Cruiser, the megayacht is now referred to as the 107 Cruiser due to her LOA. She measures 106’7” (32.5 meters), which is the same length as originally planned. The “100 Cruiser” designation came from her hull length, which remains at 100 feet (30.5 meters). On a related side note, Vicem decided this year to change all its model names accordingly, allowing for more of an apples-to-apples comparison for buyers.
Other things besides the LOA remain intact. There’s Vicem’s traditional cold-molded construction process and emphasis on classic looks, for example. Further intact is Vicem’s practical general arrangement. From its smallest model to its new megayachts, Vicem yachts have been touted by media and buyers alike for letting owners live and maneuver as they should. To that end, the Vicem 107 Cruiser has an islands-friendly draft of 6’2” (1.9 meters) and a healthy 23’10” (7.3-meter) beam. Compare that space to the area afforded by similar-size yachts, and it’s dramatically different. In fact, Vicem says the 107 Cruiser is more like a 115-footer in terms of indoor and outdoor relaxation areas.
The megayacht certainly accommodates more people than expected. There are accommodations for 10 in the standard layout. Staterooms include a king-size master, two VIP staterooms (one pictured), a queen cabin, and a twin cabin. Crew are given private heads in their three cabins, which comprise two singles and a double. Since Vicem yachts are always semi-custom, this layout can be changed if a buyer so wishes.
Something American buyers will likely not change is the extra-large galley. U-shape in design, it’s on the main deck and keeps the chef in on the conversation. Another item it’s hard to imagine any buyer, regardless of nationality, wanting to change is the flying bridge. It encompasses nearly 754 square feet (70 square meters). It should be a good place to enjoy the view and breeze when the Vicem 107 Cruiser is cruising at an anticipated 17 knots, powered by twin 1,550-hp Caterpillars.
The Vicem 107 Cruiser will meet RINA classification and the Malta Commercial Yacht Code. The latter is helpful if an owner wishes to offer the yacht for charter.
UPDATE, JULY 2, 2012: Vicem now says the Vicem 107 Cruiser will debut at the Cannes Yacht Show in September.
