The first stages of construction should be underway this month at Claasen Shipyards on a sailing yacht being referred to as the Hoek 126-foot Classic Sloop.
The all-aluminum 126-footer (38.4-meter) is one of about a dozen sailing yachts to be part of Hoek Design’s Truly Classic series. The series includes a variety of sizes, from small craft through megayachts, though this is the largest to date. As the “classic” part of the name suggests, the Hoek 126 is traditional in profile; note the long, lovely overhangs, for example, and the central deckhouse. She’s also intended for true lovers of racing.
Neither Claasen Shipyards nor Hoek Design have released anticipated performance figures, but given that the two have collaborated on J-Class projects and the new F-Class, it’s safe to assume the Hoek 126 will be a good competitor.
Upon delivery in April 2015, the megayacht will have features appealing for both the owner’s personal use as well as charter. A fireplace will take center stage in the saloon, aft of the engine room. The master suite (aft of the saloon) and guests will get use of cockpits. Surely the guest cockpit, centrally located, will be popular for alfresco dining, as well as taking in the views while cruising. Two guest staterooms, one a twin and one a double, as well as three cabins for five crewmembers will round out the accommodations.
