Come springtime 2015, this Truly Classic 126 will be delivered by Claasen Shipyards. As her name suggests, she’s 126 feet (38.4 meters), one of many Truly Classic sailing yachts by Hoek Design Naval Architects and the Dutch builder.
We first introduced you to the Truly Classic 126 about a year ago. That’s when construction had just begun on her aluminum hull. The owner, a repeat Claasen Shipyards client, signed the contract in November 2012. This Truly Classic 126 is the largest of all the series’ sailing yachts to date.
In keeping with the “classic” part of her model name, the Truly Classic 126 is traditional in profile. In the video, you can see her long overhangs take shape, and the fully finished hull. The hull was turned just before the end of 2013 at Bloemsma Aluminumbow. (Claasen Shipyards subcontracts all of its hulls to Bloemsma Aluminumbow, in Makkum, Holland. Subcontracting hulls is common in the country.)
In keeping with a yacht meant for cruising, the Truly Classic 126 has a owner’s cockpit and separate guest cockpit. It’s interesting to note that there’s a full-beam lower saloon just forward of the owner’s stateroom. The idea is to provide the client with an even bigger and more private owner’s area, particularly when no friends or family are aboard. (Beam is 25’4”, or 7.75 meters.) The interior design here and throughout the Truly Classic 126, also by Hoek Design Naval Architects, stays true to the “Classic” theme. Mahogany will envelop each room, for paneling and soles, offset by white overheads. Maple inlays will rim the rooms’ soles, too.
Even with such a genteel decor, the Truly Classic 126 won’t be afraid to take on a regatta or two. Claasen Shipyards and Hoek Design Naval Architects comprise the successful team behind the J-Class Lionheart and yet another J in build.
The Truly Classic 126 will meet MCA and LY2 standards.
Two additional Truly Classic sailing superyachts are under construction at Claasen Shipyards. They’re hull numbers three and four in the Truly Classic 90 series.
