Previously known as Oceanco hull Y708, St. Princess Olga has been handed over to her owners and is on her maiden voyage. The megayacht is seen here in Gibraltar over the weekend.
St. Princess Olga measures 280’8” (85.6 meters) and has a beam of 45’9” (14 meters), which should translate to more than comfortable accommodations for a party of 12 to 14. The late Alberto Pinto worked with the owners on the interior design until his passing last year, though his multi-person studio naturally continued executing details on the project. Facts on the features haven’t been released, though it’s easy to assume the owner’s suite will have quite a good footprint onboard, as will some of the guest/VIP staterooms.
The megayacht bears styling by Igor Lobanov and naval architecture by Oceanco’s in-house team plus Azure Naval Architects. St. Princess Olga’s steel hull draws 12’5” (3.8 meters), and as you’d expect, she’s capable of transatlantic travel, fitted with powerful 4,830-hp MTU engines. Popular Med ports should be on her itinerary, too.
One other interesting fact is the story behind St. Princess Olga’s name, especially if you are a history or religious buff. A woman known as Princess Olga was prominent in both Russian history and Christianity. She was married to the ruler of Kiev in the 10th century and assumed the throne when he was murdered. Several years later she converted to Christianity and established the religion in Kievan Rus, the name of the medieval state at that time. Princess Olga was sainted in 1547 and is considered the first saint of the Russian Orthodox Church.
