Last Friday saw British Columbia-based Richmond Yachts launch its latest megayacht, a 150-footer (45.72-meter) christened Richmond Lady.
If you’re familiar with Richmond Yachts, the megayacht’s name may sound familiar. That’s because Richmond Yachts calls its spec-built projects Richmond Lady, so this new yacht is the latest in that lineup. She’s also the builder’s second 150.
With a beam of 28 feet (8.53 meters), the all-fiberglass Richmond Lady is a trideck design engineered in house and with interior design by both Pavlik Yacht Design and its in-house team. Sapele and pommele wood is used for paneling and furnishings, complemented by a custom-made mahogany dining table, crown molding, and more luxe looks. An entertainment center with a rising 55-inch television provides separation between the saloon and formal dining area. Even with a formal dining area, Richmond Lady has a country kitchen, for versatility, and in recognition that everyone eventually ends up hanging out with the chef.
Twelve people in the owner’s party are accommodated in staterooms spread over the three decks. The master suite is, as you’d expect, forward on the main deck. Rather than include an office in that suite, however, Richmond Yachts places it on the upper deck, near the skylounge. (Good thing it’s in a private space, because the granite-topped bar aft in the skylounge might be a distraction.) Four guest staterooms are in the customary location below decks, and a fifth stateroom that can serve either as a VIP or a captain’s cabin is just forward of the sky lounge, though a buyer looking for a happy ownership experience would be wise to dedicate it to the captain.
Richmond Yachts terms its sundecks “fun decks,” so to that end, Richmond Lady has a hot tub forward, flanked by sunpads, a bar and barstools beneath the arch, and more sunning and seating spots aft. Active owners and guests will appreciate dedicated bottle stowage and a compressor inside the lazarette. A tender up to 18 feet is stowed aft of the skylounge.
The 150-foot megayacht should see a best range of 3,500 nautical miles. Cruising speed is 16 knots, while top end is 18, given twin Caterpillar diesels.
Richmond Lady still awaits some decorative touches, but Richmond Yachts anticipates sending the yacht to Florida to show to potential buyers this summer. Asking price: $24.9 million.
