Add another RP110 (Raised Pilothouse 110) to the roster of yachts and megayachts under construction at Horizon. The Taiwan-based builder inked a deal after a potential client visited the shipyard.
While the owner’s nationality wasn’t revealed, the introduction was made via Horizon’s Australia sales office, so the client should be from that region. Regardless, this is the second RP110 megayacht to start construction, with delivery set for 2015. The first RP110, Andrea VI, was signed for an American owner and should launch this summer, with a formal debut set for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October. (While Horizon actually signed yet another RP110 previously, christened Lady Gaga upon launch in 2011, the styling and other aspects were customized from top to bottom for the owner. Horizon therefore recategorized Lady Gaga as a Custom Collection model, the CC110.)
The new Horizon RP110 megayacht bears styling by Espinosa and naval architecture by Donald L. Blount and Associates. She measures 110 feet (33.53 meters), with a healthy beam of 25 feet (25.62 meters). Power is being supplied by twin 1,800-hp Caterpillar C32s, and the draft of six feet (1.83 meters) is shallow-water-friendly.
The news comes just as Horizon has opened an interior-design center at its headquarters in Taiwan. The move is intended to make it easier for yacht and megayacht clients to work with Horizon’s own staff on decor selections. The interior-design center has samples of fabrics, woods, hardware for doors and baths, and stonework. Even better, if an owner likes a particular decor on a Horizon they saw at a yacht show or in a magazine, Horizon has a database dating back to 2002 that can be called up on demand on the large-screen TVs in the design center’s conference rooms.
