The all-aluminum 197-footer (60-meter) shown here, with styling by Luca Dini Design, is one of the newest megayachts being built at Mondo Marine.
Termed the Mondo Marine M60 for now, the megayacht is one of a series of designs the shipyard and Dini are collaborating on, intended for owners who want good speeds, sporty lines, and of course the creature comforts typical of pleasure craft. Mondo Marine’s in-house engineering department has performed computational fluid dynamic studies on the design, with an anticipated 18-knot cruising speed and 21-knot-plus maximum speed being among the results. Propulsion comes from twin 3,860-hp MTUs. At a more leisurely (and likely more common) 12 knots, the M60 megayacht should see a 4,100-nautical-mile range.
Given the 34’4” (10.5-meter) beam, the Mondo Marine M60 will have plenty of proper spaces catering to the owner and guests. Dini is further handling the interior design. Highlights include a full-beam skylounge, five guest staterooms below decks, and a master suite forward on the main deck. OLED-capable televisions will be incorporated throughout, which promises dazzling entertainment options. (OLED is a technology allowing brighter, crisper images and thinner, lighter, and more flexible display screens, plus uses less power than even LEDs and LCDs.) A dip in the ocean will be encouraged by a swim ladder that flips down from the beach club platform. A sundeck pool is also available for laps, adjacent to a hot tub.
Equally important to note, given the recent ratification of MLC 2006, the Mondo Marine M60 will be the shipyard’s first megayacht to meet the so-called seafarer’s bill of rights. Among other things, the crew cabins will be larger than in the past.
The ABS-classed Mondo Marine M60, with a draft of 9’5” (2.9 meters), should be ready in 2015.
