The Selene 92 represents the biggest yacht under construction at Jet-Tern Marine and its second-largest offering overall. Like many of her smaller sisters, the megayacht will head to U.S. shores come delivery.
The Selene 92 is the China-based shipyard’s first foray into the 79-foot (24-meter) and up realm. LOA is 91’11” (about 28 meters), and beam is 23’9” (just over 7 meters). She’s part of the semi-custom Ocean Explorer series, penned by Guido de Groot Design. The same Dutch design firm is responsible for the Selene 78 that’s also in the series.
Selene yachts are typically trawler-like in styling, reflecting the yard’s focus on long-range cruisers. However, Jet-Tern Marine requested Guido de Groot Design and additional consultants consider more modern flair for the Ocean Explorer series. The Selene 92 shares a family feel with the Selene 78, marked by shippy, raked pilothouse windows, a sporty hardtop, and a few curves. They’re all accentuated with a bold hull color.
Given the long-range-cruising focus, the Selene 92’s twin 600-hp MTUs should provide leisurely speeds; the yard has not divulged anticipated performance or range. Regardless, Guido De Groot Design is working with the American owner for a casually chic atmosphere. A particularly nice touch is a bar just inside the aft-deck doors. The galley is also open to the dining area and saloon, in a twist on a country kitchen.
All staterooms aboard the Selene 92 are below decks, including the full-beam master. A VIP guest cabin is forward, while two twins round out the guests’ sleeping spaces. One crew cabin is abaft the engine room.
Delivery of this Selene 92 is expected toward late 2014 or early 2015.
