Less than a year after hull #1 was delivered, hull #2 in the Selene Explorer 92 series poked her bow out of her build shed.
The Explorer 92 mixes soft and shippy lines, hinting at her intended purpose as a comfortable long-range cruiser. Styling is by Guido de Groot Design, who collaborated with the naval-architecture team at Jet Tern Marine, the Taiwanese shipyard that builds all Selene yachts. As for that long range, the Selene Explorer 92 should see 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots. Power is from twin 475-hp MTUs. Even with a draft of 7’6” (2.29 meters) at full load, the megayacht should manage to make her way into a variety of shallow anchorages.
Hull #1 (pictured) was handed over to a Canadian couple earlier this year, following her launch last autumn. Selene Yachts has not revealed the nationality of the owners of hull #2. However, the interior designer for both projects is also Guido de Groot Design. Each Selene Explorer 92 features walnut and mahogany paneling. It lines spaces from the saloon down to the four staterooms below. Those staterooms include the master, which is delineated by the three large ports seen in the photo. Furthermore, the Selene Explorer 92 has a good-size main-deck galley and a bar up on the flying bridge. The captain and crew get triple helm seats in the pilothouse, plus accommodations aft below decks.
The 92 isn’t the only big megayacht that Jet Tern Marine has in the works. Expect to see an Explorer 103 be delivered next year.
