YN 17470 is making history at Heesen Yachts. The Dutch builder’s largest-ever megayacht, whose keel was laid in October, is 229’7” (70 meters). She’s the newest in Heesen’s Fast Displacement lineup. In addition, YN 17470 (her hull number) is the first Heesen megayacht styled by Espen Øino.
A few more facts make Heesen’s YN 17470 noteworthy. For one, her gross tonnage is 1,200. YN 17470 is further all-aluminum, something rarely seen in this size range. Aluminum is a more suitable material for the Fast Displacement Hull Form that YN 17470 employs. This hull form was also used aboard Galactica Star, which is currently Heesen’s largest delivery. It offers the low resistance of displacement yachts with the higher performance of semi-displacement ones. It’s further more efficient throughout the speed range. YN 17470 is being equipped with triple diesel engines coupled to two wing props and a waterjet drive, for an expected top end exceeding 30 knots.
Design-wise, YN 17470 combines familiar Heesen styling elements with ones that the owner requested of Øino. There’s an interesting mix of hard angles and soft curves. Inside, Sinot Yacht Design is carrying out the owner’s wishes. No renderings are available for publicity yet, but YN 17470 will have six staterooms, including the master suite. Four guest cabins will be below decks, while the VIP will be on the bridge deck. The master naturally will be forward on YN 17470’s main deck. It will occupy nearly 915 square feet (85 square meters). Sixteen crew will attend to everyone’s needs.
Everyone will further have use of an infinity pool and beach club. The uppermost deck offers both sunny and shady relaxation spaces. Sliding and retracting glass panels here are a nice touch. To keep the decks of YN 17470 clean, a tender garage (with gullwing doors) is being incorporated into the foredeck. And, the owner or guests can arrive or depart via helicopter, forward of the wheelhouse.
Heesen’s YN 17470 is set for delivery in early 2016.
