UPDATE, JULY 23, 2014: Project Margarita has been seen on her maiden voyage. She is now known as Elena.
Read on for the original story about her sale, and her features.
Mid-May saw Heesen Yachts sell Project Margarita to a water-loving family.
Project Margarita is the first of the re-styled Heesen 47-meter displacement series. LOA is 153 feet (46.7 meters), with a beam of nearly 29 feet (8.83 meters). The series is targeted to buyers wishing to remain within the 500-gross-ton threshold. Project Margarita has a half-load displacement of about 400 tons, a little more generous than the 360-ton level set for the series.
The sleek, familiar Heesen profile of Project Margarita is courtesy of Omega Architects. The Dutch design firm has also been handling interior design and will incorporate any requests of the new owners. So far they’re keeping the oak paneling in the master and the mix of walnut and silk panels in the guest staterooms. Project Margarita will also still feature oak panels paired with walnut soles in common areas on the main deck.
It’s easy to imagine everyone gathering at night for fun in the skylounge. The room features a home-cinema system. A bar here caters to everyone day or night. Guests’ eyes will further be drawn to the walnut sole. The wood is laid in a circular pattern, which is repeated elsewhere onboard.
But, the sundeck surely will beckon most days. Project Margarita devotes nearly 915 square feet (85 square meters) to it. Dining, relaxing in the hot tub, and sunning can take place up here. More sunning space is just forward of the wheelhouse.
Accommodations onboard are arranged in the traditional way, with four guest staterooms below and a full-beam master on the main deck.
The steel-hulled Project Margarita should be wrapping up sea trials around press time. Half-load top speed should be 15 knots. Best cruise speed should be 12 knots, permitting a 4,000-nautical-mile range. Twin 8V 4000 Series MTUs provide power. Hand-over is set for June 30, after which the megayacht will head to the Med.
You can see Project Margarita yourself at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
