Why not name a go-anywhere yacht after the Greek god of the sea? That’s what Rossinavi has done with Poseidon, a 143’7” (43.85-meter) megayacht proposal that it’s promoting to potential buyers.
Rossinavi partnered with Arrabito Naval Architects for the engineering of the ice-classed megayacht. She’ll meet Ice Class IB classification standards, which both Det Norske Veritas and ABS offer. It requires, among other things, reinforcing the aluminum hull and underwater equipment against ice encounters. Another requirement for Poseidon: anti-freezing measures for certain systems below the waterline. To suit the go-anywhere goal, Arrabito Naval Architects designed the hull for reasonable speeds and extended range. With twin 1,300-hp Caterpillars, top end should be 17 knots. With twin MTUs, it should be 20 knots. Either way, dialed down to displacement speeds, Poseidon should see a 10,000-nautical-mile range, according to Rossinavi. The 6’10” (2.12-meter) draft means the megayacht will be able to access a number of ports that full-displacement projects cannot.
Styling and interior design of the four-deck Poseidon are from Team for Design. Enrico Gobbi, the studio’s principal, and his staff have collaborated with Rossinavi on a handful of yachts previously. Gobbi says the goal this time was to reflect “military and luxury” ideals. The exterior profile picks up both concepts, notably with the grey paint and the mix of sharp and soft lines. Luxury comes into play, of course, with the alfresco relaxation areas and interior. Notably outside, there’s a beach club and an aft-deck pool. A portion of the pool bottom is glass, further shaped like the facets of a diamond (below). Imagine the effect at night at anchor, with the beach club open.
Full-height glass flanking the main saloon, plus more large glass panes forward and above deck, bring the outside in. Forward on the main deck, note the eight vertical ports. They spill light into Poseidon’s formal dining area and gym. Above deck and aft, glass encircles the master suite. The adjacent alfresco lounging area is exclusively for the owners, too. The maximum 29’2” (8.9-meter) beam for Poseidon should ensure all of these areas are plenty comfortable.
The owners and six guests will be attended to by six crew and a captain. Owners will surely be given input into Poseidon’s interior arrangements and decor. Though, Team for Design suggests wenge joinery and muted tones like grey for fabrics and wall coverings. For extra wow factor in some rooms, the studio envisions backlit white-onyx walls. Team for Design has suggested configurations employing furnishings from the Armani Home collection.
