Given a reported maximum speed of 27 knots, Flying Dragon is aptly named. The nearly 147-foot (44.8-meter) megayacht from The Italian Sea Group is more than simply a fast yacht, however. She’s a good example of a model with a set engineering package still appearing every inch a custom project.
Flying Dragon is part of the builder’s Admiral Regale 45 series. The all-aluminum series with Luca Dini Design emphasizes speeds from the high 20s to the low 30s. The above-mentioned top end confirms this. Your first hint of how the owner and Dobroserdov Design infused her with his personality starts with the dragon graphic aft.
Another truly personal reflection of the owner’s taste comes on the flying bridge. Note the ying-yang symbol, laid in teak overhead. Even fully custom megayachts rarely feature anything other than mood lighting beneath hardtops. Loose furnishings and a hot tub (not shown) invite guests to linger.
Sliding doors leading out to the side decks from the dining area also invite guests to linger. The dining area itself aboard Flying Dragon is a sight to see, with the 13-foot-long (four-meter-long) decorative wall panel and backlit-onyx-fitted wood table.
Even while seated in the expansive saloon, open to the dining area, guests can enjoy views out the sliding side doors. The gunwales have notches directly where the doors align. The saloon is highlighted by chocolate-stained tabu lati, a sustainable hardwood.
Being on the main deck of Flying Dragon, the master suite makes the most of the 26’9″ (8.2-meter) beam. Mirrored walls enhance the feeling of space and reflects the natural light from the ports and the fold-down balcony to starboard. Though the 6’6”x6’6” (2×2-meter) balcony is not deployed in this photo, imagine the effect when it is during daylight.
Intricate decor details characterize every corner of Flying Dragon. This foyer is a prime example. The four guest staterooms (two doubles and two twins) have light-colored carpeted soles rimmed in red onyx. Backlit white onyx characterizes the tops and fronts of the bars on both the flying bridge and the aft main deck. Magic-mirror TVs are in the saloon and master suite, the latter also having a black marble sole border. The master bath further has a full wall of blue onyx.
While plenty of series-built megayachts reflect their owners’ personalities inside, it’s rare to see such detail as embodied by Flying Dragon, especially outside.
