Megayacht buyers seeking adventure should be intrigued by this proposal, courtesy of Tony Castro Design. She’s a 224-footer (68.4-meter) employing a proven hull and engineering package, to be built by Sunrise Yachts.
The Explorer Superyacht is intended for an owner’s party of 12, with a crew of 15, to roam the world’s oceans. Indeed, Tony Castro Design says the Explorer Superyacht will boast a better cruising range than most same-size megayachts. (We requested specifics on best range, cruise speed, and top speed, but had not yet received them as of press time.) The design team performed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tests on the hull, with a draft of 11’5” (3.5 meters), to ensure reliable performance, too.
Both functionally and aesthetically, the Explorer Superyacht draws from ocean-going vessels that face a variety of sea conditions. Note the primarily work-focused foredeck and more house-forward upper decks. Of course, this being a yacht, Tony Castro Design has equipped the Explorer Superyacht with the creature comforts you’d want to have wherever you cruise. These include fold-down platforms close to the water. You can soak in an upper-deck pool while taking in the sights at anchor, too. There’s also a tender garage, of course, with enough room for a mini armada for times when the Explorer Superyacht can’t get too close to shore. Speaking of garages, check out this image of the heli-hangar, which telescopes out when needed and is climate-controlled:
Don’t concern yourself with having to rent a car when you take the Explorer Superyacht to the popular ports. Tony Castro Design and Sunrise Yachts will ensure an automobile can be stowed high on deck. Extra toys, from PWCs to tenders, can go on deck, too.
Bearing a beam of 42’3” (12.9 meters), the Superyacht Explorer is yours to arrange as you wish. Beach club with sauna? Check. Full-beam master suite on its own deck? Check. The design and build teams suggest a cinema, gym, and even a full-beam observation deck with a sliding roof. Those of you who treat crew like family will appreciate how the first officer and engineer each get private cabins, just like the captain.
