A 164-foot (50-meter) megayacht is nothing new for Benetti. But one with a fiberglass superstructure and aluminum hull is. Vica marks the first time the Italian builder has employed this construction combination.
A primary advantage of using fiberglass aloft: It yields clients more customization of superstructures. If you compare Vica in profile to previous Benetti deliveries, you’ll see some differences. Fiberglass also saves weight, of course.
But Vica wasn’t commissioned solely for construction advantages. The owners wanted to enjoy life afloat in a few special ways. Three opening platforms near the waterline are prime examples. They provide instant access to and from the sea. One along the starboard side is for the tender to launch. Another just forward of it connects to the lower-deck lobby. The third is at Vica’s transom, becoming a swim platform.
Speaking of platforms, the balcony off Vica’s master suite has an interesting setup. There’s an automatically deploying stairway to let the owners enjoy quick, private dips or trips via tender.
Then there’s the saloon, destined to host plenty of late-night fun due to a karaoke system and a grand piano. A separate seating area in the saloon suits movie nights, due to including a large TV.
This photo gallery of Vica gives you a better look at her cherrywood-adorned spaces, highlighted by rosewood accents. You’ll also see wrought-iron detailing on the central stairway, a sundeck skylight that spills light down into the lower deck, and peeks at some of her five guest staterooms. Interior design was executed by Benetti and the owners’ decorator.
