The project started as Tankoa Yachts’ S693 (signifying 69.3 meters, or 227 feet) has been christened Suerte. She’s the first yacht in the new Italian shipyard’s 70-meter series, and slipped into the water on July 1.
Undergoing sea trials later this month in preparation for delivery in August, Suerte is styled by Francesco Paszkowski Design and bears naval architecture by Ruggerio Naval Architects. Vincenzo Ruggerio of the eponymous firm was pleased to see Suerte’s draft was off reportedly just one centimeter from plan. (It’s not uncommon for builders to adjust balances following launch so that a yacht sits properly in the water.)
Suerte should see 16½ knots as her top speed at half load, under Caterpillar power. Transatlantic range should come at 12 knots.
The standard layout for the series that Suerte belongs to includes a beach club with a bar and saloon. It’s what Tankoa calls a “sea lounge.” A large glass port inset into the transom bulkhead lets the area be used no matter the weather nor time of day. There’s additionally a spa with a hammam tucked in here. Suerte’s owner kept these features, but of course requested a number of specialized touches throughout the yacht, too. He collaborated with Francesco Paszkowski Design on things like a waterfall pool on the uppermost deck.
Full photography on the interior of Suerte, which is nearly complete, should be available following her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.
