With top speeds expected to approach 26 knots, the Sunseeker 116 Yacht will uphold the UK brand’s emphasis on sporty performance. But she’ll also introduce new configurations and styling, the latter of which will eventually make its way through nearly the entire Sunseeker megayacht range.
The Sunseeker 116 Yacht employs the hull design of the 115 Sport Yacht, a model that spawned several launches over the years. The new megayacht has about the same beam (24 feet, or 7.33 meters) and slightly higher tank capacities. Styling-wise, she has sharper, more aggressive lines particularly where ports are concerned. Those ports are also far larger and deeper, in keeping with modern trends. The 116 Yacht has full-height glass in the saloon, for example, extra effective in bringing in light thanks to the notched bulwarks. The master stateroom also benefits from the larger, deeper glass panes. Sunseeker plans to have all of its 100-foot-plus models, current and future, reflect these same looks.
Something else making the 116 Yacht attractive: more convivial alfresco areas. Sunseekers have long had sunpads and seating arrangements outside, of course. But the 116 Yacht has a foredeck setup that Sunseeker is terming a “club” concept. Just like a land-based hotspot, the megayacht’s foredeck club has enough options to keep you and your guests happy for a few hours. Facing settees are arranged around a dining table, nestled against the superstructure. Sunpads adjacent to the settees ensure everyone stays part of the conversation. The 116 Yacht offers the option of a hot tub here, too, as seen in the illustration below. Combined with the settees/loungers to each side of the hot tub, the arrangement augments already-inviting alfresco spots like the flying bridge and aft deck.
Speaking of which, the flying bridge on the 116 Yacht has standard and optional features sure to appeal to Americans and Europeans alike. One is a sliding sunroof, which other Sunseeker models include. Even if you opt for the hot tub on the foredeck, there’s a standard one up here. You can add a bar and sunpads, too. As for the aft deck, you’ll find the customary seating/dining arrangement along with a bar. It’s nicely complemented by additional seating in proximity to the swim platform. Swimmers or guests disembarking from PWCs will appreciate the tuck-away shower on the swim platform, too. While not a beach club, the 116 Yacht’s transom does include a tender garage.
Just as with its other megayacht models, Sunseeker allows you to tailor the 116 Yacht’s interior arrangement and decor. The standard layout has five staterooms for you and your guests, plus accommodations for five crewmembers. You can turn a stateroom into an office or a TV/movie room, for example. Or keep the standard configuration and make the decor much like a casual beach house. That would work well for a megayacht meant to cruise at 16 to 18 knots. As usual, Sunseeker is offering a handful of engine packages from which to choose.
The first Sunseeker 116 Yacht will be launched come springtime.
